What a fun weekend! Lost more than half of the heats in the Norwegian slalom competition this weekend because I had to work in the morning, but managed to sail a few races! This photo describes my preparation for the race.
I arrived to the beach 5 minutes before start of the 3rd heat, changed to wetsuit in 10 seconds while my boyfriend rigged my sail and my mom and sister got my board to the beach. Thanks! A great event with 15 riders (two girls, rest men). We all raced in the same heats, so a big amount of 15 riders sailing around the marks. It was cool and I won three races and got disqualified in two – so much to learn, but I love the feeling of racing!
After the PWA World Cup in freestyle in Fuerteventura, I will fly to Turkey in August, to participate in the PWA Slalom World Cup to learn more slalom and get my ass kicked. I think the PWA slalom girls are superfast! Hope it will be a good experience for the future!
Check out a super short slalom clip filmed after the competition at my athlete page on facebook: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Oda-Johanne-N-500/1606375879622238. I was sailing on my Starboard iSonic 110 and Severne Reflex6 7’8 all day. The wind was not so strong.
Something else that is really cool is my upcoming clinic! I am organizing a weekend for intermediate windsurfing girls who want to improve their level. So far there are 15 girls that will participate. There are a few spaces left, so if you want to join check out the poster for info and send me an e-mail: odajohanne@hotmail.com
